Purpose: By Andrew Q. Gordon – Release Date 6-21-13

In less than two week, Purpose will be released. As I mentioned when I first announced the date – I’m going to try a few different things. One of them is to post three ‘prequel’ short stories in place of excerpts. Two will be in the year to eighteen months after the Purpose finds Will. The third is about twenty-five years years at the first two and about fifteen before chapter 1 begins. These will expand on past events mentioned in the book. In addition to the these backstories, I’ll be giving away an eBook copy with each Pre-Release guest blog post. Each contest will last three days and will ask readers to answer a question in order to enter the book giveaway.  In addition, all valid entires – i.e. made within the three days and answers the question – will be entered into a drawing for a Dreamspinner Press Gift certificate for $15.00. You can only enter one time per blog book giveaway, but you can enter all five book giveaways and get five chances to win the Dreamspinner GC.  The DsP GC will be given away on June 25th. The tackle from behind sent Blake tumbling toward the pitch. Even before he got to his feet, he knew who’d done it.

“What the fuck was that, Matt?” Darryl stood inches from Matt. “Are you trying to take out our starting mid?

“What?” Matt glared at Blake over Darryl’s shoulder. “He’s hiding behind you now?”

“Fuck you, Hopkins.” Blake tried to lunge at his teammate, but a pair of hands pulled him back.

“What the fuck’s going on?” Jason screamed inches from Blake’s ear. Continue reading Wednesday Briefs: Second Shot – The Senior Year – 11

Review:  I really loved everything about this book from the storyline to the characters to the dialogue.

Mr. Gordon has a gift for descriptiveness that I greatly enjoyed.  I think my favorite is the endless pocket – regarding which I have just one question: Where can I find one outside of the book? happy I also like the idea behind Haven, if not the need within the world Mr. Gordon created.

GIVEAWAY #12: ANDREW Q. GORDON

Am a guest on Sid Love’s blog today as part of his Giveaway Drive. While I’d like to say they saved the best for last, that would be a huge stretch given the other really talented authors who participated in the Drive. If you get a chance, check it out, answer the question and enter the giveaway. Also take a moment to read what the other authors who participated are doing.

“Your husband saw the world so differently from me. He kept everything simple. Do what you know is right and ignore the rest as worthless noise.”

TRISH’S OPINION: The Last Grand Master by Andrew Q. Gordon is the glorious sweeping tale of a world where wizards, princes, unicorns, immortal warriors, kings, healers and other fantastic creatures live, love fight, and die in a epic battle between good and evil.

An (Un)Masked Day of Silence

Today – April 19, 2013, GLSEN sponsored a Day of Silence to bring attention to bullying among LGBTQ kids.  In an effort to help GLSEN raise awareness Dreamspinner Press encouraged it’s authors to write short ficlets using characters from their books participating in the Day of Silence.  Anyta and I submitted one for our book (Un)masked. In addition, Dreamspinner Press is donating 20% of all sales today to GLSEN.  So if you have a notion to buy any of my books or any others offered by Dreamspinner Press – today is a great day to do it as you will be helping GLSEN and its efforts to end bullying of LGBTQ teens. Wednesday Briefs: Second Shot – The Senior Year – 6

“So how are you going to get here?” Blake really didn’t care that much except that he wanted to be sure Ethan had a ride before he hung up. Not that he wanted to go, but they’d been talking for a while now and he needed to meet his teammates for dinner

“Keep your shorts on–no wait, take them off so you’ll be naked when I get there.” Continue reading Wednesday Briefs: Second Shot – The Senior Year – 6

Blake pulled the shower curtain back and reached for his towel. For a school with as many rich kids as Graydon, you’d think they could afford more than a piece of cheap plastic for the showers. Then again, the dorms were not the housing of choice. As the ‘most affordable’ option, the majority of students who lived there didn’t qualify as the ‘well heeled.’

But the place fit his family’s budget, wasn’t far from practice and he and his roommate got along well. At least they did so far. Coming out might change that, which could weigh in favor of staying put. Continue reading Wednesday Briefs: Second Shot – The Senior Year – 5

“This was a wonderful, romantic adventure tale. This is epic fantasy at its best. The reader is thrust straight into the action, as one of the first scenes is Farrell going to help at the request of the unicorns and during the battle he meets his mate, the one who the gods have chosen for him. Miceral is one of the Muchari, immortal warriors – I suppose something like elves, but there are no pointy ears here.”

Reviews, Are They Useful?

I apologize for not having a proper ‘Wednesday Brief’ to post, but life – better known as ‘lil q, Easter and a bit of a cold – got in the way and sapped my creativity.  I’ll do my best to resume next week and there after.  But since this is a group I belong to, I wanted to be able to promote those good souls who managed to keep with it.  Those flashers are listed as usual, at the end of this post.

In addition to the Wednesday Briefs, I belong to a few author groups. One of the themes lately has been reviews. Good, bad, or just maybe not really a review at all. Different people have different positions on reviews, but I’ll admit that I read and react to reviews.  I like good ones and I don’t like bad ones.  That said, well written critical reviews do have some benefit. The trick, for me, is to look past the disappointment to find those benefits. Continue reading Reviews, Are They Useful?
