Saturday Lunch Meet Up

I took ‘lil q to lunch Saturday with some people who read and write M/M fiction. It was organized by the Metro DC Area Romance Readers group.  As you can see, she had a good time.  The weather was beautiful and she got to see up close one of her new favorite things – boats. (She’s so not getting one btw).  Since weekends are when I spend most of my time with ‘lil q this was a perfect setting – nice people, nice location, nice weather. (And lots of boats for her to point out to me.)

Thanks to Susan for reserving the space and Julie for inviting us.

Purpose: By Andrew Q. Gordon – Release Date 6-21-13

In less than two week, Purpose will be released. As I mentioned when I first announced the date – I’m going to try a few different things. One of them is to post three ‘prequel’ short stories in place of excerpts. Two will be in the year to eighteen months after the Purpose finds Will. The third is about twenty-five years years at the first two and about fifteen before chapter 1 begins. These will expand on past events mentioned in the book. In addition to the these backstories, I’ll be giving away an eBook copy with each Pre-Release guest blog post. Each contest will last three days and will ask readers to answer a question in order to enter the book giveaway.  In addition, all valid entires – i.e. made within the three days and answers the question – will be entered into a drawing for a Dreamspinner Press Gift certificate for $15.00. You can only enter one time per blog book giveaway, but you can enter all five book giveaways and get five chances to win the Dreamspinner GC.  The DsP GC will be given away on June 25th. Guest Post: M.A. Church’s, The Yellow Rope.

M.A. Church is my guest today serving up an excerpt from her new book – The Yellow Rope.

The Yellow Rope

Blurb:

The Yellow Rope 200x300A cranky submissive…

Luke Walker is tired. He spends long hours between his job as a teacher assistant at an elementary school and helping out his family at their restaurant. Coupled with the fact that his degree is going to waste, he’s discouraged and fatigued by too much work and endless southern heat, and not enough time spent with his live-in partner.

An understanding Dom…

Gage Holt has been on both sides of the fence. He believes that in order to be a good Dom, one has to understand being a sub. Unfortunately, he’s had some bad experiences in pursuit of that knowledge, and suffered a great deal. But that’s in the past now.

A long weekend…

Three little days… Gage is determined to see that his man gets what he needs in every way he can give it to him. Anything to remove the dark circles from beneath his beautiful eyes. For the next seventy-two hours, he’s going to pamper his boy—in his way. He’ll fight a bull that hates him, battle with a crusty old woman at a gift shop who snubs him, and deal with the never-ending lack of money just to bring the shine back to Luke’s eyes.

Luke will relax and have some fun, even if Gage has to tie him to whatever flat surface happens to be handy. Continue reading Guest Post: M.A. Church’s, The Yellow Rope.

The tackle from behind sent Blake tumbling toward the pitch. Even before he got to his feet, he knew who’d done it.

“What the fuck was that, Matt?” Darryl stood inches from Matt. “Are you trying to take out our starting mid?

“What?” Matt glared at Blake over Darryl’s shoulder. “He’s hiding behind you now?”

“Fuck you, Hopkins.” Blake tried to lunge at his teammate, but a pair of hands pulled him back.

“What the fuck’s going on?” Jason screamed inches from Blake’s ear. Continue reading Wednesday Briefs: Second Shot – The Senior Year – 11

Ten Facts About My Love Of Books

Lizzy Baldwin from mylittlebookblog posted the original Ten Facts About My Love of Books– on Friday.  I told her she should collect the different ideas from people who follow her and did their own list. She thought it was a good idea, but then said I should do it to since it was my idea.  Yeah, me and my great ideas.

But I did say I’d do it, so here goes.

Purpose To Be Release June 21, 2013

Seems like a lifetime ago I signed the contract to have Purpose published, but I finally have a date and a cover.

I’m still working out what I’m going to do regarding the release promotions, but I’m planning to try something a bit different.  In writing the book, I had some definite ideas about Will’s past. Things he did, events, milestones.  I don’t like flashbacks very much and to be honest they didn’t really fit anywhere as I was writing the book.  But they would still add depth and context to the story. So I’m going to be releasing some as part of the promotion and I’ll post them on my site as well as on various blog hops.  So check back and I’ll have a time table for guest posts and I’ll set up a page for the original short stories that are connected.

Coverartdraft3_PurposeBlurb:

Forty years ago the Spirit of Vengeance—a Purpose—took William Morgan as its host, demanding he avenge the innocent by killing the guilty. Since then, Will has retreated behind Gar, a façade he uses to avoid dealing with what he’s become. Cold, impassive, and devoid of emotion, Gar goes about his life alone—until his tidy, orderly world is upended when he meets Ryan, a broken young man cast out by his family. Spurred to action for reasons he can’t understand, Gar saves Ryan from death and finds himself confronted by his humanity.

Spending time with Ryan helps Will claw out from under Gar’s shadow. He recognizes Ryan is the key to his reclaiming his humanity and facing his past. As Will struggles to control the Purpose, Ryan challenges him to rethink everything he knew about himself and the spirit that possesses him. In the process, he pushes Will to do something he hasn’t done in decades: care.

An (Un)Masked Day of Silence

Today – April 19, 2013, GLSEN sponsored a Day of Silence to bring attention to bullying among LGBTQ kids.  In an effort to help GLSEN raise awareness Dreamspinner Press encouraged it’s authors to write short ficlets using characters from their books participating in the Day of Silence.  Anyta and I submitted one for our book (Un)masked. In addition, Dreamspinner Press is donating 20% of all sales today to GLSEN.  So if you have a notion to buy any of my books or any others offered by Dreamspinner Press – today is a great day to do it as you will be helping GLSEN and its efforts to end bullying of LGBTQ teens. “So how are you going to get here?” Blake really didn’t care that much except that he wanted to be sure Ethan had a ride before he hung up. Not that he wanted to go, but they’d been talking for a while now and he needed to meet his teammates for dinner

“Keep your shorts on–no wait, take them off so you’ll be naked when I get there.” Continue reading Wednesday Briefs: Second Shot – The Senior Year – 6
